House Bill 1390, which passed on April 4 and was to take effect on July 1, requires abortion providers to be certified OB-GYNs with admitting privileges at a local hospital.

"Today you see the first step in a movement, I believe, to do what we campaigned on- to say we're going to try to end abortion in Mississippi," Bryant said.

Is Apple's Siri ultra-conservative?

I do not have an iPhone 4S yet. I desperately want one, though, and for one reason alone: to taunt Siri with ridiculous questions and requests.

Siri is Apple’s version of a “digital assistant.” The official Apple website declares, “Your wish is its command.”

Some find it scary that this machine “knows what you mean” and “has so much to tell you.” But I think it’s pretty awesome.

What are the consequences of Initiative 26?

Wherever I am today, I’m stoked to be here discussing crowd-pleasing topics like unplanned pregnancies, abortion and rape.

I haven’t been left with a line to cross here; I’ve seen a dead fetus plastered on a van drive by me on campus this year — it’s all out in the open now.

I’m not associated with Personhood USA, the Colorado-based group proposing Initiative 26 be passed here in Mississippi, or any other sect labeling itself “pro-life,” nor am I associated with any pro-choice sect.

Mississippi residents will have the chance to vote yes or no on Amendment 26, also known as the Personhood Amendment, in November.
The amendment is a citizen’s campaign aimed at making personhood start at the beginning of conception in the Mississippi Constitution.

Since the Pill hit the U.S. market in 1960, millions of women have been prescribed this method of birth control, and more than 12 million American women are currently taking it.

These women are both young and old, single and married. Though they may be from different backgrounds, every woman who has taken the Pill has one thing in common: She is taking a rational and responsible approach to her sexual health and family planning.

Believe it or not, an election is coming up in November, and on the ballot is Amendment 26, a state-wide initiative that would redefine a “person” as “every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof.” If you are almost anyone in the state, you probably think this is just fine and dandy - after all, all lives are precious, and who do women think they are to play God with the lives of their children?

Obama and his constituents finally reached a budget compromise late Friday evening and avoided a government shutdown, but they’re not quite done meddling with money yet.

In February, the House of Representatives passed the Pence Amendment 240-185 to strip Planned Parenthood of all federal funding provided by Title X, a program that provides grants for family planning services.

Dan Holman paces back and forth waving a weathered Bible with the words “Jesus Saves From Hell” on the cover.

It’s nearly 1 p.m. in the Union plaza, and a growing crowd gathers around the older man clad in solid black as he preaches about the pitfalls of reproductive immorality.

Images of broken, blood-soaked bodies splashed across large cardboard signs surround Holman and his audience, each with its own message of anti-abortion.

I am sure that everyone knows Pro-Life Mississippi protested abortion on campus Tuesday. If you managed to miss the van plastered with pictures of aborted fetuses and the screaming preachers outside the Union, in the Circle and even on Jackson Ave. by late afternoon, consider yourself lucky.

I believe the organization failed to both meet their point and to show that they’re a Christian group.

An anti-abortion group from Wisconsin has been protesting in front of the Union and in the Circle today.

An anti-abortion group from Wisconsin has been on campus since 8 a.m. this morning protesting in front of the Union and in the circle.

They are also advocating a vote that will take place in November for the Personhood Amendment, number 26.

According to one of the protestors, the group was asked to come to Mississippi to demonstrate throughout the state by Pro-Life Mississippi.
