In President Obama’s first term, 300 drone strikes killed an estimated 2,500 people. Drone strikes are a powerful tool in the war on terror, but they are also a tool without rules.
The New York Times reported yesterday that in the weeks before the presidential election, the Obama administration was scrambling to create guidelines for the use of drones. These rules were to be created in case Obama wasn’t re-elected; the new president would then have a clear set of directives to determine when the use of drone strikes was allowed.

In September, The University of Mississippi’s Center for Intelligence and Security Studies (CISS) received the title of an Academic Center of Excellence from the Director of National Intelligence.

In addition to this honor, CISS receives funding from the federal government to develop courses and fund study abroad opportunities, workshops and outreach programs.

Like many rising seniors at Ole Miss, I have worked hard to protect my GPA over my past three years of school. Although my 4.0 met its unfortunate demise in the fall of my sophomore year, I have managed to keep tit above the 3.8 mark ever since.
Trying to keep my options open for possible law school and scholarship opportunities in the future has kept me motivated to work as hard as I can, even when it would have been much easier to cut myself a little slack and “enjoy” more of the recreational activities Oxford has to offer.

Obama’s announcement is irrelevant for a reason – it’s too good to be true.

Here in Oxford, we’re stretched thin with events and activities vying for our time and attention.

Jerrell Powe just signed on to the onslaught of the Forward Rebels.

We’re more stressed out about midterms than Boone must be about his job, and apparently this thing called a “Green Fund” should be important to us, too.

If you’re not paying careful attention, you’d barely notice that Obama said he’s bringing our troops home from Iraq.

Late Sunday night, President Barack Obama announced that Osama bin Laden had been killed by U.S. armed forces. He called the assassination the greatest achievement made thus far in the War on Terror.

“The world is safer. It is a better place because of the death of Osama bin Laden,” Obama said in his address to the nation.

Bin Laden’s death marks the end of a decade-long manhunt that began shortly after the September 11 attacks in 2001.

Unlike Faulkner, Perry came from Boston to write memoirs about her life in the CIA, entitled “After Many Days: My Life as a Spy and Other Grand Adventures.”

I recently read an article on former CIA spy Duane R. Clarridge, and to put it mildly, I was amazed. Now, I’m no expert on covert operations, but I’ve seen my fair share of Mission Impossible reruns.
