Ole Miss students Bowman Hitchens and Rob Treppendahl will take a 60-day journey down the Mississippi River this summer to raise $50,000 for Interfaith Compassion Ministries in Oxford.

This is no ordinary trip. It’s a trip only about 10 people complete a year.

They will start at Lake Itsca, Minn. and end in New Orleans. The first 100 miles of the river are spent completely in wilderness and are mapped by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Hitchens and Treppendahl said they will not be able to kayak the whole way.
