The Grammy-winning North Mississippi Allstars will play this Saturday at 7 p.m. on the Budweiser North Stage during the Double Decker Arts Festival.

North Mississippi Allstars got its start in 1996 with Luther and Cody Dickinson, sons of the music legend Jim Dickinson.

Jim Dickinson was a Memphis record producer for 40 years before passing away in 2009.

He was a huge influence on his two sons as they grew up in Tennessee and North Mississippi.

Several top charting artists, including Ke$ha, Cake and Jason Mraz, will be in Memphis this weekend.

These artists, along with 60 others, make up the musical line-up of the 2011 Beale Street Music Festival from April 29 to May 1.

The Beale Street Music Festival serves as the kickoff event for Memphis in May, a month-long celebration that brings a stronger sense of diversity to Memphis and promotes tourism on a large scale.

There are a large variety of musicians, ensuring that everyone will enjoy more than one set.

At the Center for the Study of Southern Culture, the blues is a reason to celebrate. The eighth annual Blues Symposium will take place today and tomorrow.

At the Center for the Study of Southern Culture, the blues is a reason to celebrate. The eighth annual Blues Symposium will take place today and tomorrow.

The Blues Symposium is a gathering of scholars, writers, photographers, musicians and music industry figures to discuss and present research about the blues in Mississippi.

Mark Camarigg, co-event planner and publication manager at Living Blues Magazine, said the conference is more of an academic presentation and a forum for researchers, but there will also be live blues music.
