Holloway was named the South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year his senior year of high school and decided to come to Ole Miss for the 2008-09 season. He led the team in rebounding that year as a freshman and the following year as a sophomore.

The Ole Miss Volleyball team had a rough 2011 season but are poised to make a run at the NCAA tournament in 2012.

Senior Allegra Wells from Garland, Texas, feels that she still has a lot left to prove before she leaves Ole Miss. Wells led the Rebels last season with 290 kills and averaged a team-high 2.66 kills per set.

Ole Miss Basketball has had one goal in recent years: Make the NCAA Tournament.

However, the Rebels have been on the wrong side of the bubble every year in Andy Kennedy’s six-year tenure. What is it going to take to get this team in the big dance?

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Nick Williams scored a career-high 22 points and led Ole Miss a 68-54 win over Auburn in Thursday’s first round of the SEC Tournament at New Orleans Arena.

Williams, whose previous career-high was 21, was 9-of-14 shooting and drained four 3-pointers. Murphy Holloway added 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Rebels (19-12), who have won four straight and might be able to make a case for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament should they upset Tennessee in their second-round game Friday night.

The Ole Miss men’s basketball team tips off postseason play against the Auburn Tigers in the first round of the SEC Tournament tonight at 6:30 p.m. in New Orleans. Coming off back-to-back losses this past week against top-ranked Kentucky and Vanderbilt, the Ole Miss men’s basketball team returns to the road tonight, travelling to Rocky Top to take on the Tennessee Volunteers. Both teams are long shots for the NCAA Tournament at this point, but it’s a key match-up for two middle-of-the-pack Southeastern Conference teams looking to finish the season strong and improve their seeding for the SEC Tournament March 8-11 in New Orleans.

Although the NCAA Tournament seems like a long shot now, the players and coaches are not giving up on the season.

“We have four games left; our goal is to win them all, just as it has been all season,” said junior Murphy Holloway. “I think I speak for everyone on our team when I say basketball is what we came here to do. We are playing for ourselves and our school. I think everyone is still going hard.”

Vanderbilt (17-8, 6-4 SEC), a team which has lost three of its last four games, presents an opportunity for a quality win against a team with a No. 29 RPI and a No. 5 strength of schedule.

Also, with a win tonight, Ole Miss would move into a tie for third place in the SEC standings.

Austin Miller: In your latest bracket on Monday, Ole Miss was one of your first four teams out. Elaborate on that and what’s your overall assessment of Ole Miss’ season?

Joe Lunardi: Ole Miss was one overtime away from being in the bracket with the game on Saturday. I think they’re going to stay right on the edge - either just in or just out – unless they can string (wins) together. They’ve pretty much been win one, lose one, win one, lose one, all the way since league play began. If they could have a week where they win twice, that would probably be enough to keep them there. If they string together a week more than once where they win twice, that would probably put them over the top. This bubble is soft, and they can do it. Playing .500 is not going to do it.

While students begin studying for final exams and leaving Oxford for winter break, the Ole Miss basketball team will stay busy with its seven remaining non-conference games.

AUSTIN MILLER: What are your overall thoughts on the Ole Miss men’s basketball team this season?

JOE LUNARDI: At the risk of being the most unpopular person in Oxford, I am not overly optimistic. Ultimately, Ole Miss was a losing team (7-9) in a horrible SEC West and has lost its best player in Chris Warren. While there may be a little “addition by subtraction” in being more team-oriented, the gap between the Rebels and the NCAA tournament was far greater than their 20 overall wins would suggest.

It would be the program’s first since the 2001-02 season under then-head coach Rod Barnes.

“This is my last go around and we haven’t made the tournament in a while, so that’s the teams main goal on paper right now,” Henry said. “That’s in everyone’s head – make the tournament and do some things.”

At the halfway point of the season, the Ole Miss volleyball team is looking to get over the hump and get back on track from where it left off this past season when it reached the NCAA Tournament.

The Rebels (5-13, 1-9 SEC) hit the road this weekend to face Southeastern Conference rivals LSU (13-6, 6-3 SEC) and Arkansas (12-8, 4-5 SEC).

In matches earlier this season, Ole Miss lost in five sets to the Tigers and won in five sets against the Razorbacks, their only SEC win of the season.
