The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has been busy under the Obama administration, pushing research and development for renewable energy in a variety of industries. The DOE has administered a number of federal grants to businesses to help them develop such products.
The purpose of these grants is to infuse a struggling industry with cash to give the industry a competitive advantage with established energy development such as coal and oil.

I asked myself the other day if I knew what starvation felt like. The slow decay of the body as it eats itself until there is nothing left, the lack of energy and motivation, time slowing down and meaning nothing without food. I thought about if I knew what that felt like. I tried imagining the Oxford Dictionary’s listings of starvation; I used every bit of imagination I had. I added adjectives in front of starvation to create abstract meanings: intellectual starvation, cultural starvation, artistic starvation.

“It was good,” Freeze said of Wednesday’s energy. “We were a little sloppy in the offensive line, picking up in some of the stuff that (Texas) does. It can cause you some confusion, and they are going to create some negative plays. It’s going to happen. It happens against everyone they play.”

Once again we are leading up to an election with two candidates to choose from who have been painted as opposites of one another.
Case in point: Romney for Big Oil, Obama for clean energy; Romney for lowering taxes among the wealthiest, Obama for raising taxes among the wealthiest; Romney for tighter immigration, Obama’s DREAM act; Romney pro-life and Obama pro-choice; Romney against same sex marriage, Obama for same sex marriage.

Picture this: constant sweating, repeated fanning, water bottles lined across desktops like dominoes and long, drawn out sighs. If you pictured yourself in a sauna, you will get partial credit. This imagery is the scene of classrooms in the buildings of Hume, Bishop, Bondurant and Shoemaker.

“There are two set point temperatures for the buildings,” Physical Plant Director Ashton Pearson said. “The winter set point is 68 degrees, and the summer set point is 74 degrees.”
The Energy Management Policy for the University of Mississippi became effective in January 2012. Since then, the summer set point has changed from 78 to 74.
“It’s understood that from the specified set point, the temperature in the building is allowed to drift +/- 2 degrees on either side,” Pearson said.

“Defensively, (it was) excellent,” Freeze said. “I thought their energy was great, and I thought their attention to detail was super. They were very coachable. Offensively, I don’t know, we didn’t have any pizzazz. No energy, no bounce in our step like it’s game week.

With over 200 locations across the four corners of the United States and every where in between, Pita Pit has found a new home in Oxford.
Located on North Lamar Boulevard, right off the square, owner of the new Pita Pit, Jack Brighenti, thought this would be the perfect location to provide healthy eating to both students and the Oxford community.
He is the owner of two other Pita Pits, which are located in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. His newest location is the first to open in the state of Mississippi.

Going green has become an increasingly more popular trend in the past few years, and the world of construction and architecture is following close behind. Builders and contractors alike have been studying ways to make homes and structures less expensive and more energy efficient.
Local Oxford builder Britton Jones of Winters Construction has done just that, and his green efforts have not gone unnoticed.

Stretching is easily one of the most ignored components of fitness. It happens all of the time. People come into the gym, spend an hour working out and take only two minutes out for stretching.
And to an extent, it’s understandable.  Stretching is slower, takes more time, and is often more frustrating. People often believe that they simply are not flexible and never will be, but that is simply not true.

And to an extent, it’s understandable.  Stretching is slower, takes more time, and is often more frustrating. People often believe that they simply are not flexible and never will be, but that is simply not true.  Flexibility, like anything else, takes practice. While some are more predisposed to flexibility than others, anyone can gain better flexibility.

Some readers knew what would fill this space before I began writing this week.

They knew — but how? Perhaps they possess clairvoyance; maybe they have been remotely viewing my writing process this week; or, and what is most likely, they were familiar enough with their surroundings to predict what a person like me living in a town like Oxford would say on a day like today.
