Earlier this month, a non-profit organization called Invisible Children released a viral 27-minute video seen around the world, detailing the crimes of the leader of Lord’s Resistance Army, Joseph Kony. The LRA is a guerilla, anti-government organization that had been terrorizing the Ugandan countryside by abducting children from their homes to use as child soldiers in plots to overthrow the government of Uganda. While it can’t be said that the producers of the video and their charity lack passion or enthusiasm for the cause, what they do seem to lack is a fundamental understanding of the current situation on the ground in Uganda.

Then there’s Joseph Kony, the Ugandan warlord who truly embodies the darkest elements of humanity. Kony is the epitome of a villain. He’s effluent with legs. Does this make him worth America’s time, though? Not one bit.

One of the more veteran units on the Ole Miss team in 2010, the 2011 Ole Miss defensive line is much smaller and less experienced than it was a year ago but enjoys a boost in the unit’s athleticism.

The Ole Miss baseball team (30-25, 13-17 SEC) learned Monday that its season would not continue this weekend in an NCAA Regional as the Diamond Rebels miss the postseason for the first time since 2002, ending a streak of eight consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. The season also ends with Ole Miss registering its fewest wins in head coach Mike Bianco’s 11-year tenure.

The legend of Matt Smith started with a 12th-inning walk-off home run to give Ole Miss a dramatic 4-3 win over Virginia in game one of the 2009 Super Regional.

His game-winning home run over the wall in left-center was immortalized the next day as SportsCenter’s Top Play of The Day. However, in all-too-familiar fashion, the Diamond Rebels saw their season come to an end one game short of Omaha and the College World Series.

When it comes to Ole Miss athletics, there have always been some serious issues.

Let’s take basketball for example, where C.M. Tad Smith Coliseum is possibly the worst venue in the Southeastern Conference.

Problems with Rebel basketball doesn’t stop at the administrative level. The team hasn’t had support for the entirety of Andy Kennedy’s tenure as coach, and after another disappointing season, this won’t be changing for another year.
