This season you can find a Rebel player who hits a double look at the dugout and shoots an imaginary bow and arrow to his teammates, but the bow-and-arrow shooting joins a long list of things that make Swayze a unique baseball environment.

No. 22 Ole Miss (25-12, 7-8 SEC) will host the No. 15 Arkansas Razorbacks (27-10, 8-7 SEC) this weekend in a huge series to begin the second half of the Southeastern Conference schedule at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. First pitch tonight is set for 6:30 p.m.

Following a series loss on the road at No. 1 Kentucky, No. 18 Ole Miss (21-10, 6-6 Southeastern Conference) will look to get back on track as it takes on the Central Arkansas Bears (13-15, 7-8 Southland Conference) in a double-header beginning at 3 p.m. today at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. Each game will be seven innings.

GAME ONE: No. 18 Ole Miss 2, Central Arkansas 1

No. 18 Ole Miss (22-10) took the first of two seven-inning contests 2-1 against the Central Arkansas Bears (13-16) Tuesday from Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

GAME TWO: No. 18 OLE MISS 4, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 0

After giving up a run in the first game of the double-header, No. 18 Ole Miss (23-10) did one better as they shutout Central Arkansas (13-17) 4-0 to complete the sweep of the midweek series.

If No. 16 Ole Miss (18-7, 3-3 SEC) thought its first two weekends of Southeastern Conference action was tough, it’ll think this weekend is nearly impossible as the Florida Gators (23-2, 5-1 SEC), who are ranked No. 1 in the nation, come in to town for a three-game series starting tonight at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

Before Southeastern Conference play began, head coach Mike Bianco and the Ole Miss Rebels baseball team, now ranked No. 16, had a world of confidence, but that confidence was quickly shaken.

The Rebels dropped two of three games in their first Southeastern Conference series against Auburn in which Ole Miss scored a combined eight runs during the weekend. Then in-state foe Southern Miss came to Oxford and blanked Ole Miss 10-0.

The Rebels were out-hit 17-3 and committed three errors, as the team’s losing streak stretches to three games.

The No. 17 Ole Miss baseball team (15-5, 1-2 SEC) welcome the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (11-9) to Oxford today for an in-state showdown at 6:30 p.m. from Oxford-University Stadium/ Swayze Field. The Rebels opened Southeastern Conference play this past weekend, dropping the three-game set against Auburn. Southern Miss enters tonight’s game, losing three of their last four games, including a series loss to Murray State this past weekend. The Golden Eagles are 2-1 against SEC foes this season, splitting a home-and-home series against Alabama and winning at Auburn.

The Rebels clinched a series win against Miami (Ohio) with a 2-1 win Sunday and the Skyhawks are coming off a sweep at the hands of Arkansas-Little Rock this past weekend, including a 12-11 loss in extra innings Sunday.

Ole Miss will continue its 13-game home stand this week with five contests at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. 

The Rebels (5-1) welcome Memphis (3-3) today at 3 p.m. for a mid-week rivalry game before hosting Jackson State (3-4) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in a make-up game from a rainout against TCU earlier this season. Ole Miss then hosts Miami (Ohio) (3-3) for a three-game weekend series.

Senior designated hitter Zach Kirksey led the eight-run, 11-hit barrage with a three-run home run in the fourth to lift the No. 20 Ole Miss baseball team to an 8-1 win against Arkansas State in its home opener yesterday at Swayze Field/Oxford-University Stadium.

When the Ole Miss football team got back to Oxford after a 31-3 loss to Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, most of the team turned their attention to the offseason and who would be named their new head coach, but freshman Senquez Golson turned his attention to baseball and the friendly confines of Oxford/University Stadium at Swayze Field.

The Rebels (13-4) earned their third win over Lipscomb (7-9) this weekend with a 5-1 victory Sunday afternoon at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. The win represents Ole Miss' third weekend series victory in four tries this year.

The Ole Miss Baseball team (3-0) entered the first weekend of the season with plenty of new faces and the NCAA’s newly introduced “ping-less”  bats.

But the show that a combined crowd in excess of 24,500 people saw over a three-day stretch at Swayze Field is starting to look like a rerun.

Crowds and places tend to earn the reputations they are given. The Ole Miss baseball experience is no different.

While the Ole Miss Baseball team won’t hit the diamond to compete for a championship until next February, the Rebels will hit the field to compete for a different set of bragging rights this week with the 2010 edition of the Red-Blue World Series/Pizza Bowl.
