It was going to be an uphill battle for the Ole Miss women’s basketball team (12-15, 2-12 SEC) as they welcomed the No. 10 Tennessee Lady Volunteers (20-7, 11-3 SEC) for Senior Day. The Lady Rebels fought hard and tried to send their three seniors out with a win in their last home game, but the Lady Vols prove too much in a 66-56 win Sunday afternoon.

“I have a very good basketball team,” head coach Renee Ladner said. “They’re extremely young. This entire SEC season has been a learning experience for them.”

The Ole Miss women’s basketball team (12-10; 2-7 SEC) came into Sunday’s game on a three-game losing streak and was in need of an offensive spark. The Lady Rebels (12-10, 2-7 SEC) continued their slide with a 67-54 loss to Auburn (11-11, 3-6 SEC) on Sunday at the Tad Smith Coliseum. Ole Miss had another disappointing offensive performance, shooting just 32.7 percent (17-for-52) from the field and 22.2 percent (2-for-9) from three-point range, while also turning the ball over 16 times and being out-rebounded 40-32.

Students will start to leave the campus and head home during the coming weeks to start winter break. However, the Ole Miss women’s basketball team will stay put in Oxford, as the Lady Rebels (5-1) play their last seven non-conference games to gear up for SEC play. It starts Saturday afternoon when Ole Miss hosts Grambling State.

In addition to football’s homecoming game and season openers for men’s and women’s hoops, this is also senior weekend for the Ole Miss volleyball team.

The Rebels (9-15, 5-11 SEC) take on two ranked Southeastern Conference opponents, No. 15 Tennessee (22-3, 14-1 SEC) and No. 18 Kentucky (22-4, 13-2 SEC). The Rebels will honor their two senior players, Morgan Springer and Regina Thomas.

The Ole Miss soccer team’s season ended this past Friday on a bittersweet note. The team won its last three games, but missed out on a Southeastern Conference Tournament berth by one point.

 

The Ole Miss soccer team’s season ended this past Friday on a bittersweet note. The team won its last three games, but missed out on a Southeastern Conference Tournament berth by one point.

The Rebels’ season could not have started any better, winning the first three games by a combined score of 11-0, and they were on pace for their best start in over five years.

Men's basketball was picked 7th by the media, and the women were picked 12th by the media. McFarland was also named to the Media All-SEC team

 

Men picked 7th by the media

Andy Kennedy’s Ole Miss men’s basketball team was picked to finish 7th in the Southeastern Conference in a voting by a select panel of both SEC and national media members, the SEC announced Monday. 

The Kentucky men’s basketball team was picked to win the SEC this year, earning 18 of the 23 first-place votes. Vanderbilt, who was picked second, earned four first-place votes, followed by Florida, who also earned a first-place vote.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Ole Miss soccer team won its second straight game Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 overtime win at Kentucky.

With the win, Ole Miss improved to 7-10-1 overall (3-7 SEC), while Kentucky fell to 12-6 overall (5-5 SEC).
Alix Hildal scored the game winner for the Rebels in the 92nd minute on an unassisted goal.

Ole Miss defeated the storied Kentucky Wildcats basketball program once this season, but couldn't do it again Friday at the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Atlanta. 

Ole Miss defeated the storied Kentucky Wildcats basketball program once this season, but couldn't do it again Friday at the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Atlanta. 

The Rebels  (20-13) hung tough with the No. 15 Wildcats (23-8), and trailed by only two points with less than two minutes remaining in the game, but Kentucky pushed through for the 75-66 victory in the contests waning moments.

The Ole Miss basketball team got exactly what it needed Tuesday evening.

The Ole Miss basketball team got exactly what it needed Tuesday evening.

Andy Kennedy’s team secured its biggest win of the season, and perhaps its biggest win in several seasons, by defeating the No. 10 Kentucky Wildcats in thrilling fashion at the Tad Pad.

But that’s over. As great as the win was – and it was great for Ole Miss basketball as a program – it’s only one game, and the Rebels must move on.
