Nashville band Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors makes an almost yearly visit to Oxford.
“It’s kind of a homecoming for us, or at least for me,” Drew Holcomb said. “My sister and my brother went to school at Ole Miss; I have tons of great memories in Oxford. I love the Square, I love Ajax, I love Bottletree and Proud Larry’s is a great spot.”

As members of the Ole Miss family, we have a special mindset. We have certain standards for who we welcome into our family.

As members of the Ole Miss family, we have a special mindset. We have certain standards for who we welcome into our family.

A stroll through the Grove on a Saturday in the fall will prove that: beautiful women in colorful sundresses, gentlemen in sports coats and old men in sweater vests. Other than those types of people, there isn’t much room for outsiders.

This concept saddens and frightens me, but it is how we have done it in Oxford for as long as anyone can remember.

To the Editor:

What a relief to read Chancellor Jones’ letter to the university and its alumni about the smear campaign going on within our Ole Miss community.

There are a lot of things students have to pay for, like tuition, books and food. Many may want to travel but may not consider going anywhere because of perceived expensive costs.
However, there are three places filled with activities that are within driving distance of Oxford.
So if you only have $100 to spare for a weekend trip, consider these options.
Destination one: Memphis, Tenn.
Only about an hour drive from Oxford, Memphis is filled with attractions to make your trip worth it.

Fan reactions have been mixed, some ready to cheer on the Rebels at the game, some ready to stay in the Grove and others are looking to forget what happened all together.

“Looked really bad,” Nutt said. “It’s a little bit of everything. I never felt that way on the sideline. Just didn’t feel right.

“We just didn’t have that confidence. We didn’t make first downs and move the ball like we normally do. That was a first.”

Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only 10 I see! Going far beyond such a horrible pick-up line, Proud Larry’s presents an amazing band that will literally be the only 10 you see on Sept. 26.

The band is called “10 Out of Tenn” and is made up of 10 separate artists, each with successful careers of their own.

Ole Miss begins Southeastern Conference play Saturday in Nashville against Vanderbilt, and starting junior quarterback Zack Stoudt couldn’t be more excited.
During his recruitment when he was at Iowa Western Community College, Stoudt cited playing in the SEC as one of the reasons he chose the Rebels.

“That was the ultimate deciding factor,” Stoudt said. “I told Kansas I just couldn’t pass up playing in the SEC.

Randy Houser was raised a storyteller.

Even before he could pen a lyric or shape a chord, the Lake native was being molded through song — his father’s song.

“When I was a small child I saw him singing on stage, and I realized then that that’s what I want to do,” Houser said. “I was maybe 4 or 5 years old. I think it’s one of those desires that’s in your heart. I think that you’re born with the desire to want to do this.”

Ole Miss has faced Vanderbilt more than any other school except Mississippi State and LSU, and undoubtedly this familiarity has bred contempt between the two teams.

One of the greatest joys of summer growing up was the fact that there was no school.  Summer provided the much-needed relief from the stress that middle and high school brought on.
