Melvin Harris dismissed from the team

Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt opened his Monday afternoon press conference by announcing that junior wide receiver Melvin Harris had been dismissed from the program.

“We’ve really tried to help him for three years,” he said. “I don’t want to get all the way involved in everything — the scenario of this thing –– but he’s going to continue to go to school and hopefully get his life in order.

In 2010, the Rebels lacked playmakers on the offensive side of the ball and addressed that need tremendously in their 2011 recruiting class. The newcomers, combined with the returning veterans, hope to make Ole Miss’ offense more potent at the wide receiver and tight end positions this season.
