The college admissions process is something most of us would never like to have to relive.
It’s a stressful time filling out applications, writing variations of the same personal statement and dealing with the attendant stress of finding a large or small envelope in the mailbox. However, for one girl, though she graduated from LSU this past May, she will have to relive this time of her life in front of the Supreme Court.

This is a sensitive issue, I’m quite aware. Native Ole Miss students are hypersensitive to out-of-state students who have not been lifelong Ole Miss fans and have allegiances to more than one football team.
I, having grown up in New Orleans to an LSU alum, hold dual fandom and have been called a traitor for even suggesting that I like LSU.
Please refrain from tweeting me things about corndogs; I don’t understand that comment and I fear I never will.

Entering Saturday’s game, Ole Miss and LSU were two teams headed in opposite directions.

The Rebels had lost three games in a row and five of their last six.

The Tigers, on the other hand, had won four in a row and five of their last six. Ole Miss looked to turn things around and get some revenge for the 81-55 beating they took in Baton Rouge to open Southeastern Conference play back in January.

Monday night at Irie on the Square, Lafayette High School quarterback and Oxford native Jeremy Liggins stood up and faced a capacity crowd with five helmets of college teams on the table. Those five helmets represented Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Auburn. Quickly, Liggins reached out and grabbed the LSU helmet, saying simply, “Go Tigers, baby.”

For many, the thought of Liggins choosing a school other than Ole Miss on the Oxford Square seemed strange, but the 6’4,” 275-pound quarterback said that wasn’t really the case.

SUNDAY: OLE MISS 3, ARKANSAS 2
After a five-set loss to LSU, the defending Southeastern Conference Western Division champion, Ole Miss (5-5, 1-1 SEC) looked to rebound against the Arkansas Razorbacks (9-4, 1-1 SEC).
They did exactly that. They commanded the first set and won the match 3-2 (25-16, 18-25, 25-13, 22-25, 15-4). The Rebels continue in SEC action on the road next weekend at Georgia (Sept. 23) and at Auburn (Sept. 25).
After taking the first set, the Razorbacks, just like LSU, evened the match at 1-1.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Matt Smith went 3-for-3 with a home run, but it wasn’t enough to overcome two errors that led to an early deficit on Sunday as Ole Miss (19-10, 4-5 SEC) fell to No. 17 LSU (20-8, 3-6 SEC) by a score of 8-2.

Smith led a Rebel offense that notched eight hits, but the two early errors helped LSU build a lead that Ole Miss couldn’t overcome in the rubber game of the weekend series. Ole Miss fell by one run in Friday’s game before claiming a 16-3 win on Saturday to even the series.
