Last year I told you about some scary movies you should consider to get you in the Halloween spirit. Would you like some more of that? Good. I tried to make my choices a little more obscure this time in an effort to help you broaden your horizons. Just remember, it’s Halloween. Everyone’s entitled to one good scare.

It is that time of year again, folks: Hallow’s Eve is just around the corner to scare the pants right off you. But in all seriousness, Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. I thought once I went to college, I would have to retire my enthusiasm for Halloween, but actually, it got even better.

It’s that time of year again. Time to buy roughly 15 gallons worth of Halloween candy. If you are like me, you tell yourself it’s just in case trick-or-treaters come by, but deep down you really know it’s to consume copious amounts of Reese’s and Milky Way Midnight Darks.
Halloween has always been my favorite pastime. I rarely miss a trick-or-treat opportunity, and luckily with young cousins I still get to relive the childlike wonderment of trick-or-treating.

Disclaimer: Yes, I know I’m speaking in a lot of generalizations here. Yes, I know that not all women enjoy nauseatingly sappy and emotionally manipulative chick flicks, but most of them do

Disclaimer: Yes, I know I’m speaking in a lot of generalizations here. Yes, I know that not all women enjoy nauseatingly sappy and emotionally manipulative chick flicks, but most of them do. So there.
That dreadful holiday the non-singles among us know as Valentine’s Day is coming up, and I know exactly what you’ll all be doing to celebrate: sitting around watching sappy romance movies.
Because I’ll be sitting home alone, I’ll just choose to believe the rest of you will be, too.

Growing up, Halloween was probably my favorite holiday of the year, second only to Christmas.

I was a really imaginative kid, so the idea of getting to dress up and parade around all day as something else — and get rewarded for it in candy — easily earned Oct. 31 a spot on my “favorite days of the year” list.

While trick-or-treaters were getting candy from different houses, some people decided to attend a different type of event in The Grove on Halloween night.

While trick-or-treaters were getting candy from different houses, some people decided to attend a different type of event in the Grove on Halloween night.

The Residential Housing Association at the University of Mississippi put on the Fall Carnival in the Grove Monday evening to help raise money through the Halloween spirit.

Students, children and parents showed up to the event where there were games, inflatables and loud dance music.

Well folks, it’s Halloween, and since I’m sure you’ll all be spending this most glorious of holidays sitting at home watching TV, I thought I’d do you a solid and recommend some horror flicks.

These aren’t necessarily the best or even the scariest, just ones that never fail to get me in the Halloween spirit.

The department, which has held “Spooky Physics” for the past five years, will provide demonstrations that include a (literally) hair-raising Vand de Graff generator, bottle rockets, a bed of nails and ice cream frozen with liquid nitrogen.

Worrying about the environment and the contents of the foods we consume are honorable and important issues that should concern all of us; especially considering the debates on genetically modified foods (whether they’re harmful or not) and the detrimental effects of climate change on our oceans and forests: greenpeace.org reports that climate change remains the biggest challenge to our environment.

1) A Dead Goat

It’s that most wonderful time of the year, guys and ghouls! Did you see what I did there? Instead of “guys and girls” I wrote “guys and…” never mind, it’s high-brow stuff. Anyway, it’s Halloween, so let’s start things off right with a deceased animal. Yeah yeah, I’ve heard it all before – “This is a holiday to celebrate the fall harvest.” If by “fall harvest” you mean “pagan rituals which satisfied humanity’s heathen bloodlust,” then sure, I’d say you’re about right. Get yourself a recently-croaked goat for some good old fashioned demonic rituals. ‘Tis the season.
