I’ve had a curious relationship with Ole Miss since I began seeing her in adolescence. One of the earliest memories I have of her is how she looked when Florida came to Oxford in 2002. I remember all of her admirers being elated to call themselves her Rebels that day – and I began to admire her as well.

The Christian Science Monitor of Nov. 7 reported that youth voters once again influenced the outcome of the presidential election.

The Christian Science Monitor of Nov. 7 reported that youth voters once again influenced the outcome of the presidential election.

Citing data from the National Exit Poll, The Monitor reported that millennials aged 18 to 29 made up 19 percent of the electorate in this election cycle, up one percentage point from 2008, which was already a record-breaking youth vote turnout.

President Obama, again, won the support of young voters; The Monitor reports he carried 60 percent of millennial voters compared to the 37 percent who favored Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to canvass for President Barack Obama with the Ole Miss College Democrats. Mississippi State Rep. Tommy Reynolds provided the transportation to Florida, and once we got there, he provided the inspiration for the volunteers.
I recall him explaining why he drove us 11 hours to campaign in the heavily contested state of Florida.
“I’m in this for my son,” Reynolds said.

It’s safe to say that Ole Miss co-offensive coordinator Dave Werner didn’t like what he saw.

A few weeks ago, Florida’s Board of Education passed a six-year strategic plan that included race-based benchmarks for various subgroups of people. Almost immediately a fiery debate over this plan ensued.
Critics claimed that measures such as these suggest that racial subgroups placed at lower benchmarks than others are not as capable to succeed. For example, by school year 2017-18, the plan calls for Asian students to be at 90 percent reading proficiency on statewide assessments, up from the current 76 percent.

When someone is rated the No. 1 player in the state, expectations are through the roof. It was no different for sophomore wide receiver Vince Sanders when he came out of Noxubee County High School in 2010 rated the No. 1 player in Mississippi. Along with that came the stress of being a highly sought-after recruit and the ultimate decision of where to play college football.

“The Houston Police Department places the highest value on human life, and events like these are tragic and unfortunate for everyone involved.”
This is what the chief of the Houston Police Department in Texas said after one of his officers shot and killed a schizophrenic, wheelchair-bound double-amputee on Monday. The man had impressively cornered the offending officer’s partner — who was, just so we’re all on the same page here, not missing any of his limbs — in a way so that the partner couldn’t get away.

1. How much does Bo Wallace play?

Bennett Hipp (@bennetthipp): To me, it depends on how the game goes. If Alabama jumps out to a big lead early, and the Crimson Tide defense is teeing off on Wallace, it would make sense to limit his playing time to make sure he’s healthy for potentially winnable games coming up on the schedule.
