If your stomach is empty and you need someone to talk to, Dennis Van Oostendorpis is just the man to wain the woe.
Van Oostendorpis, owner and operator of 6‘N Tubbs on Jackson Avenue, said there is one thing he would like to make clear from the get go:
“This place is not a restaurant," he said, grinning. "It’s more social than that. You come in, have a slice, shoot the breeze, watch the game and split when you’re ready. 6’N Tubbs is a pizza joint."

As soon as the Ole Miss head coaching position became open this past Monday, former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach’s name was quickly linked with the job, among other former and current head coaches and coordinators.

Currently an announcer and analyst for CBS Sports, Leach boasts 23 years of coaching experience, including an 84-43 record in 10 seasons as the Texas Tech head coach. He brought his patented “Air Raid” offense to Lubbock, and the Red Raiders never had a losing season, reached 10 straight bowl games and shared the Big 12 South Title in 2008.

When asked about the Ole Miss job, he said it would be a job that “anybody would be interested in.”

After a day to take all of this information from Monday, this could be a monumental moment in not just Ole Miss athletics, but for the university as a whole. The two men who are hired to take over such prestigious positions could alter the face of Ole Miss forever.

Best Matchups

Quarterback — Eli Manning, Giants (at Patriots) — Manning is quietly having an MVP-caliber season as he has led the Giants to a 5-2 record. The Patriots’ defense has been atrocious, particularly in the secondary, so Manning should have another big day through the air.

The last thing the NFL and the NFL Players Association could agree on, before the undesired but public lockout of the players by its owners, was that the 2011 NFL Draft should still take place. A provision in the expired collective bargaining agreement (CBA) requires it.

During a political campaign, like the ASB elections today, there’s plenty of talk about platforms and policies. But at the Daily Mississippian sports, we wanted to know a little more. With that in mind, ASB Presidential candidates Taylor McGraw and Cortez Moss stopped by to offer their thoughts on Ole Miss athletics – the important stuff, right?
