The Ole Miss Rebels (5-4, 2-3 Southeastern Conference) will look to become bowl eligible this weekend when they take on the visiting Vanderbilt Commodores (5-4, 3-3 SEC) Saturday at 6 p.m. in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

Ole Miss will have another tough task this Saturday when they face a much-improved Vanderbilt defense. The Commodores (5-4, 3-3 Southeastern Conference) enter the game ranked fifth in the conference in scoring defense (20.7 ppg.), seventh in total defense (351.5 ypg), 12th in rushing defense (197.8 ypg), and first in pass defense (153.7 ypg.)

“They’re really good on defense," Werner. "You look at some of their scores; they’ve only given up a couple touchdowns all year long, so they’re really fast and really physical. It’s going to be a real good test for us.”

The Ole Miss Rebels are hoping to make history this Saturday, as they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on No. 1 Alabama (8:15 p.m. on ESPN). The Rebels (3-1) are 0-8 all time against the top-ranked team in the nation and trail in the head-to-head series against Alabama 48-9-2.

“It was good,” Freeze said of Wednesday’s energy. “We were a little sloppy in the offensive line, picking up in some of the stuff that (Texas) does. It can cause you some confusion, and they are going to create some negative plays. It’s going to happen. It happens against everyone they play.”
