Political candidates and pundits alike have embraced the services of Facebook and Twitter to connect with their audience. Just this year, these outlets have been cited for their roles in the “Arab Spring” revolutions.

So where does Ole Miss fit into the growing social media phenomenon?

The answer to this question may be as easy as one, two, “Zing.”

In an unprecedented move a few weeks ago, the University announced that most non-freshman students must relocate to off-campus housing next semester to accommodate the hoards of new students attending the University of Mississippi in the fall.

In an unprecedented move a few weeks ago, the University announced that most non-freshman students must relocate to off-campus housing next semester to accommodate the hoards of new students attending the University of Mississippi in the fall.

As could be expected, many current students are outraged at the decision, having to make other living arrangements on such short notice. Although many students had not planned on staying on campus next year anyway, many other students are unexpectedly being forced to find off-campus housing.

Most students know that housing changes are evident in the future of the University. If you don’t know, I suggest checking Ole Miss Today once in a while.

Starting next fall, upperclassmen will be considered second priority when it comes to on-campus housing.

Due to an overabundance of freshman applicants, and the requirement that they live on campus, there is a good chance that there will be no room for anyone else. This is understandable, and leaves no room for debate.

There are over 3,000 new freshmen this semester, and a few positives and negatives have arisen from it.
