During John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign in the 1960s, Kennedy found himself under a great deal of scrutiny because of his Roman Catholic background.  Many Republicans attacked Kennedy by saying that if he became president, he would be too heavily influenced by the papacy.  Many feared that this influence would affect the way he would lead the country and would jeopardize America’s longstanding freedom of religion.

Social media policies are being created across the nation for elementary/secondary education, but Dean of Students Sparky Reardon said it is different for higher education institutions such as the University of Mississippi.

In November 2008, by a slim majority, California voters instituted “Prop 8,” a constitutional amendment that says “only marriage between a man and a woman will be recognized in California.”
Voter turnout was large at nearly 80 percent. Many expected California, typically a leader in liberal, social movements, to shut down the proposition. When that did not happen, reactions varied greatly.

Believe it or not, an election is coming up in November, and on the ballot is Amendment 26, a state-wide initiative that would redefine a “person” as “every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof.” If you are almost anyone in the state, you probably think this is just fine and dandy - after all, all lives are precious, and who do women think they are to play God with the lives of their children?
