In this week’s edition of Four Downs, The Daily Mississippian football beat writers Bennett Hipp and Matt Sigler, sports editor David Collier and managing editor Austin Miller answer four questions regarding the week’s matchup.

1. How does Ole Miss respond coming off a bye week?

Bennett Hipp (@bennetthipp): I would expect Ole Miss to respond well, knowing that Saturday’s game against Arkansas is a key swing game for its potential bowl chances. The Rebels appear to be a team that enjoys playing on the road, which will bode well for them in a tough environment.

In this week’s edition of Four Downs, The Daily Mississippian football beat writers Bennett Hipp and Matt Sigler, sports editor David Collier and managing editor Austin Miller answer four questions regarding the week’s matchup.

1. How does Ole Miss respond after a heartbreaking loss a week ago?

Bennett Hipp (@bennetthipp): I think Ole Miss will respond very well. The attitude this week around the team has portrayed a group that has moved on from the loss and is eager to get that elusive Southeastern Conference win. I’m expecting Ole Miss to play well.

In this week’s edition of Four Downs, The Daily Mississippian football beat writers Bennett Hipp and Matt Sigler, sports editor David Collier and managing editor Austin Miller answer four questions regarding the week’s matchup.

1. Will one of the quarterbacks solidify himself as the starter for the rest of the season?

Bennett Hipp (@bennetthipp): I think if Bo Wallace starts and plays well, he can take a step toward solidifying himself. I’m not sure one game is enough to make it a done deal, as he’ll have to limit interceptions and turnovers going forward no matter what.

1. How much does Bo Wallace play?

Bennett Hipp (@bennetthipp): To me, it depends on how the game goes. If Alabama jumps out to a big lead early, and the Crimson Tide defense is teeing off on Wallace, it would make sense to limit his playing time to make sure he’s healthy for potentially winnable games coming up on the schedule.

In this week’s edition of a weekly feature, The Daily Mississippian football beat writers Bennett Hipp and Matt Sigler, sports editor David Collier and managing editor Austin Miller answer four questions regarding the week’s matchup.

1. How do you think Tulane handles the adversity of playing their first game after the serious injury to Devon Walker?

Bennett Hipp (@bennetthipp): I think it'll be very emotional for them as they get back in the swing of things for the first time since the injury. I don't expect the game to be very close, but I'd be shocked if Tulane gave Ole Miss anything but its best shot as they honor Walker.

In the first of a weekly feature, The Daily Mississippian football beat writers Bennett Hipp and Matt Sigler, sports editor David Collier and managing editor Austin Miller answer four questions regarding the week's matchup.

Bennett Hipp (@bennetthipp), football beat writer: The biggest question mark is how will Hugh Freeze’s up-tempo, no-huddle offense fare in its first game? While the competition level isn’t close to Southeastern Conference level, it’ll be interesting to see if there are some kinks and issues early that have to be worked out. It’s the first chance to see how the offense looks and how it fits the players at Ole Miss in a game setting.

One of the more veteran units on the Ole Miss team in 2010, the 2011 Ole Miss defensive line is much smaller and less experienced than it was a year ago but enjoys a boost in the unit’s athleticism.

When Ole Miss entered spring practice, the linebacker group was the strong point of the Rebels defense and possibly the best unit on the team. However, spring was not kind to the Ole Miss linebacking corp and what was a sure thing has now turned into a question mark.
