Ole Miss, the No. 12 seed in the tournament, ended the year 12-18 overall this year while the fifth-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks improved to 22-7 and will face LSU tomorrow.

The Ole Miss men’s basketball team travels to Arkansas to face the Razorbacks tonight in Fayetteville in hopes of sweeping the season series and extending their winning streak against Arkansas to five games. The Rebels have won seven of their last eight meetings against the Razorbacks, including the last three in Fayetteville.

AMHERST, Mass. – Nikki Byrd led four players in double figures as the Ole Miss women’s basketball team won its third straight game, 72-67, at UMass Saturday afternoon. 

AMHERST, Mass. – Nikki Byrd led four players in double figures as the Ole Miss women’s basketball team won its third straight game, 72-67, at UMass Saturday afternoon. 

With the win, Ole Miss improved to 4-1 overall, while fell to UMass 1-4.

The win gave Ole Miss its third 4-1 start over the last three seasons.

It also pushed the Rebels’ winning streak to three games, the longest since the 2009-10 season when Ole Miss won five straight from January 6 – January 24.

On Monday, Ole Miss announced that head football coach Houston Nutt would not be retained next season, as well as the retirement of Pete Boone by December 2012.

The Rebel nation was also informed that former football great Archie Manning and FedEx Executive Vice President Mike Glenn would co-chair a committee that would be responsible in finding a new Ole Miss football coach and new athletics director.

After a day to take all of this information from Monday, this could be a monumental moment in not just Ole Miss athletics, but for the university as a whole. The two men who are hired to take over such prestigious positions could alter the face of Ole Miss forever.

Fans unable to enjoy game day at Ole Miss Saturday should make plans for the TeleSouth Communications Inc., pay-per-view telecast of the Southern Illinois game. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. CT. 

The pay-per-view telecast is being offered to all cable systems in Mississippi and Memphis, and fans should contact their cable or satellite providers for more information.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After close to five hours of football, the result of two lengthy rain delays, the Ole Miss Rebels (3-4, 1-2
SEC) were defeated by the Arkansas Razorbacks (5-2, 2-2 SEC) on Saturday by a score of 38-24.

SEC) were defeated by the Arkansas Razorbacks (5-2, 2-2 SEC) on Saturday by a score of 38-24.

The Razorbacks dominated the Rebels in the first half, scoring 21 points and holding Ole Miss to only three points.

Ole Miss would twice cut Arkansas’ lead to a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

For the second straight week, Ole Miss had chances to win the game multiple times.

However, the Rebels ended up beating themselves in a 38-24 loss to Arkansas.

Ole Miss put themselves in a hole early by spotting Arkansas a 21-0 lead, but came back in a big way thanks to a standout performance from quarterback Jeremiah Masoli.

Masoli had arguabley his best game as a Rebel, throwing for 327 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 98 yards.
