SUNDAY: No. 15 ARKANSAS 11, No. 22 OLE MISS 3

With their backs against the wall, No. 15 Arkansas (28-12, 9-9 SEC) came out swinging on their way to an 11-3 win over No. 22 Ole Miss (27-13, 9-9 SEC) in Sunday’s series finale to salvage a game before heading home.

With their backs against the wall, No. 15 Arkansas (28-12, 9-9 SEC) came out swinging on their way to an 11-3 win over No. 22 Ole Miss (27-13, 9-9 SEC) in Sunday’s series finale to salvage a game before heading home.

The Razorbacks put up four runs in the first inning and three more in the second to end freshman right-hander Sam Smith’s first career Southeastern Conference start in a hurry.

ATHENS, Ga. – The Rebels led for most of the game, but a six-run eighth inning from the Bulldogs put things out of reach as No. 18 Ole Miss (23-11, 6-7 SEC) fell to Georgia (21-13, 6-7 SEC) by a score of 8-4 in the series opener on Thursday.

Ole Miss held a 4-2 lead heading into the eighth inning, but the Bulldogs put together a big rally to move into the lead for the first time on the night with the six-run inning on the way to the win.

Following a series loss on the road at No. 1 Kentucky, No. 18 Ole Miss (21-10, 6-6 Southeastern Conference) will look to get back on track as it takes on the Central Arkansas Bears (13-15, 7-8 Southland Conference) in a double-header beginning at 3 p.m. today at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. Each game will be seven innings.

Sunday’s bottom of the ninth started at 3:41 p.m. Because of travel rules, no inning could start after 3:45 p.m. No. 16 Ole Miss was tied 6-6 with No. 1 Florida in the rubber game of the series. Sophomore catcher Will Allen singled to right-center with one out, and none other than sophomore right-handed pitcher Bobby Wahl, who pitched masterfully in Friday night’s win, came out of the dugout to pinch run for Allen.
