Renee Ladner, head coach of the Ole Miss women's basketball team, resigned on Friday. She finished her fifth season of coaching with a 70-82 record overall and a 23-53 record in the SEC.

"When I was named the head coach five years ago, it was a dream come true," Ladner said. "And to have the privilege of coaching such incredible young ladies over the last several years is simply priceless."

Ladner is a graduate of Ole Miss and played on the team from 1978-81. She is also a former assistant coach.

"Her enthusiasm and positive attitue have been an inspiration to us all," said Ole Miss Athletic Director Pete Boone.

A three-person committee chaired by Lynette Johnson, Ole Miss' senior women's administrator and executive associate athletics director, will search for Ladner's replacement.
