Petre Thomas

The Oxford Police Department confirmed a 60-year-old man died Thursday afternoon in a one-car wreck on Highway 6.

Tommy Brown, who was driving a white 2011 Ford F-250 pickup, was traveling east on Highway 6 between Coliseum Drive and Old Taylor Road. The vehicle crossed over the median and left the roadway near the off-ramp from Old Taylor, according to Police Chief Mike Martin.

Brown, who was the owner of Brown Insurance on South Lamar Boulevard, was the only passenger in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martin said the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and there are no other details available at this time.
